Handmade indigenous artwork from the Wixárika (Huichol Tribe)
This one-of-a-kind yarn painting is crafted by the visionary Wixárika artist and mara-akame (shaman), Eligio Carrillo. Eligio’s yarn paintings hold profound spiritual significance, serving as Nierikas, or sacred doorways to the divine—each piece is a passage into the spiritual world as envisioned by the shaman.
Artist's Description: The place where the shaman seeks the rituals and practices of the people to manifest union with all of creation. The deer spirit guides the shaman in searching for the root of illness and diseases within the people. These are the traditions and practices one makes as offerings to heal and cleanse disease.
