Handmade indigenous artwork from the Wixárika (Huichol Tribe)
This one-of-a-kind yarn painting is crafted by the visionary Wixárika artist and mara-akame (shaman), Eligio Carrillo. Eligio’s yarn paintings hold profound spiritual significance, serving as Nierikas, or sacred doorways to the divine—each piece is a passage into the spiritual world as envisioned by the shaman.
Artist's Description: Mashakwasha (The Blue Deer) walks on fertile ground, with her footprints growing into hikuri (peyote) to manifest clear vision for the shaman who seeks to bridge earth and sky. Tate-Warikaumari (Grandmother Eagle Goddess) guides the shaman and deer to the upper world. With the sound of the tepu (drum), the corn stretches upward, helping to bring healing to the body of the people and planet.
